Astoria Court
The building of Astoria Court began in 1897, on a plot of land with a stipulation of sale being that the property should cost no less than £800.00. Finished in 1902 and first occupied in 1904, believed to be the summer home of an Edwardian London merchant.
Damaged in the war and then sold in the 1950’s to a family that ran it as a hotel. Later changing the use to self catering with caravan pitches in what was the orchard at the rear of the building. In the 1970’s the caravan pitches were replaced by a purpose built extension of 6 flats.
In 1986 Mike and Mary took on 22 holiday apartments and in making all the new flats self contained reduced the numbers to those of today, continually updating as times and expectations change.
